From May 22nd to 25th, 2026, the city of Bhaktapur witnessed an extraordinary gathering of young minds. The NYC MUN 2026 — organized by the National Youth Council (NYC) of Nepal in partnership with the Global Help Foundation (GHF) — brought together 100 highly dedicated student delegates representing over 100 schools across the nation for four unforgettable days of diplomacy, debate, and determination.
Held at Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur, this conference proved that the youth of this nation are ready to lead, negotiate, and shape the future — not tomorrow, but right now.

National Youth Council (NYC) of Nepal — the apex governmental body dedicated to empowering the youth of Nepal through leadership, policy engagement, and civic participation.
Global Help Foundation (GHF) — a leading organization dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through education, skill development, and training programs, serving as the proud organizing partner for this event.

The NYC MUN 2026 carried the weight of national and international recognition, graced by:
🔹 Chief Guest — Honorable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Shishir Khanal The Honorable Minister inaugurated the conference with a powerful address on the role of youth in shaping Nepal's foreign policy and diplomatic future.
🔹 Session Chairperson — Honorable Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment & President of the National Youth Council, Mr. Ramji Yadav Mr. Yadav chaired the sessions and reaffirmed the government's commitment to youth leadership and empowerment, igniting a fire in every delegate present.
🔹 Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment — Dr. Dipak Kafle Dr. Kafle addressed the delegates with insights on how youth engagement in governance is the key to Nepal's development.
🔹 UNESCO Representative to Nepal — Mr. Jaco Du Toit Mr. Jaco Du Toit delivered a keynote that connected the dots between education, global citizenship, and the power of young minds, reminding everyone that their voices truly matter on the global stage.
📅 DAY 1 — The Grand Opening (May 22, Friday)
The energy was electric as delegates poured into the venue at Sano Thimi. The day began with pre-briefing and registration, as delegates received their country assignments, committee allocations, and conference materials.
The formal inauguration opened with the National Anthem, sung in unison — a powerful reminder of unity. Welcome and opening remarks set the tone for the conference, followed by the ceremonial distribution of badges and gavels to committee chairs. The keynote addresses from our distinguished guests left the room inspired. Tokens of love were exchanged, setting the stage for the debates to come.
📅 DAY 2 — The Battles Begin (May 23, Saturday)
The real work started on Day 2. Committee sessions opened, and 100 delegates took their seats as representatives of nations. The committees pushed delegates to their intellectual limits:
🔹 United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Delegates tackled high-stakes geopolitical conflicts, navigating veto powers and forming strategic alliances to maintain international peace.
🔹 Crisis Committee The most unpredictable room in the conference. Delegates were thrown into fast-paced, real-time historical and futuristic crisis scenarios, forcing them to think on their feet and pass rapid directives.
🔹 United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Passionate debates sparked over the protection of fundamental human rights in conflict zones and the digital age.
🔹 United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Delegates clashed and collaborated over climate change policies, fighting to balance economic growth with urgent environmental preservation.
🔹 United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) A powerful committee focused on gender equality, women's empowerment, and drafting actionable frameworks to protect women's rights globally.
🔹 International Press (IP) The watchful eyes of the conference. IP delegates were busy conducting interviews, capturing the tension in the rooms, and drafting articles that held delegates accountable for their speeches.
Expert speakers were invited to address the committees, providing real-world context to the discussions. By the time the gavels closed the day's sessions, alliances had been forged and rivalries tested.
📅 DAY 3 — The Turning Point (May 24, Sunday)
If Day 2 was the spark, Day 3 was the fire.
Working papers evolved into draft resolutions. The Crisis Committee saw dramatic midnight-style updates that completely flipped the committee's agenda, forcing delegates to scrap their plans and negotiate under extreme pressure.
In the CSW, a breakthrough draft resolution on women's economic independence was negotiated line-by-line, showing incredible diplomatic maturity. Meanwhile, the UNSC faced intense deadlocks, requiring behind-the-scenes unmoderated caucuses to prevent a complete diplomatic breakdown. The IP released their newsletters, exposing committee secrets and highlighting the strongest speakers, which only fueled the competition.
Day 3 wasn't just about passing resolutions. It was about transformation. Students who walked in on Day 1 unsure of parliamentary procedure were now leading blocs with undeniable confidence.
📅 DAY 4 — Closing Ceremony and Award Distribution (May 25, Monday)
The final day arrived too soon. The morning began with the final committee sessions, where remaining draft resolutions were put to vote. Chairs delivered their closing remarks, acknowledging the extraordinary caliber of debate they had witnessed.
Then came a moment no one expected.
🌟 Special Appearance — Nirvana Chaudhary
The hall erupted when Nirvana Chaudhary walked onto the stage. He delivered a gripping speech about resilience, leadership, and taking action. "You are not the leaders of tomorrow," he told the room. "You are the leaders of today." He reminded them that the negotiation and persuasion skills they practiced here are the exact skills that will define their future impact on the world.
🏆 The Award Distribution After four days of grueling debate, it was time to recognize the best of the best across the UNSC, Crisis, UNHRC, UNEP, CSW, and IP.
